Community Policing Office

The Community Policing Office handles the following responsibilities:

  • Presenting public talks to groups on topics of interest to the community
  • Provides liaison between block watch captains and the department
  • Directs the Police Athletic League.
  • Home security surveys.
  • Coordinates "Northwest Connecticut Crime Stoppers and Tip Line" program

Explorer Program

In conjunction with the Boy Scouts of America, the Explorer Program is designed for young adults aged 14-20 that are interested in law enforcement as a career or have a strong interest in public safety. This program is part of a continuing effort to support community policing.
