Community Relations encompasses the following units:
Community Policing Office
The Community Policing Office handles the following responsibilities:
- Presenting public talks to groups on topics of interest to the community
- Provides liaison between block watch captains and the department
- Directs the Police Athletic League.
- Home security surveys.
- Coordinates "Northwest Connecticut Crime Stoppers and Tip Line" program
Explorer Program
In conjunction with the Boy Scouts of America, the Explorer Program is designed for young adults aged 14-20 that are interested in law enforcement as a career or have a strong interest in public safety. This program is part of a continuing effort to support community policing.
